Thursday 22 January 2026 Basketball Year 6 students represented Huish at basketball. They had a very brief coaching session before playing 6 games of 5v5. They plays extremely well and remained undefeated across all their games!
Tuesday 13 January 2026 Year 5/6 Football - Somerset County Finals Having won the Yeovil Schools Games in November, Huish’s footballers arrived at the Somerset County Finals full of confidence and optimism. In extremely wet conditions, Huish got underway and it was a difficult start. A 1-1 draw was followed by a 1-0 defeat. With just three more group games to come, the team knew that only three wins would be enough to reach the semi-finals. As the conditions improved, so did our performances. Wins of 2-1, 3-0 and 4-0 meant a semi-final place was secured. Here we met familiar opposition in Milford and a close game in driving rain ended in a 1-0 Huish win. This meant a final against Bishop Henderson from Taunton, who the team had drawn with at the start of the day. It was Bishop Henderson who took the lead with an unstoppable strike and, despite Huish’s best efforts, the game ended in a 1-0 defeat. Once again, the team represented the school superbly. Thursday 11 December 2025 Indoor Athletics Huish attended an indoor athletics event this term at Westfield. They took part in sprints, throws and jumps. For some of the students this was their first time attending this event. They all worked extremely hard and were an amazing credit to Huish!
Monday 8 December 2025 Futsal Competition Huish played in their first ever Futsal competition this week. They played some outstanding football throughout every single game. They managed to score an incredible amount of goals which was the combination of some fantastic teamwork and collaboration between all the players on the pitch. They managed to finish in 2nd place despite being level on points and goal difference to the eventual winners who won on the amount of goals scored!
Thursday 13 November 2025 South Somerset Schools Football Tournament Huish competed in the South Somerset Schools Football tournament with high hopes after a number of well contested friendly games. They began the group stage with a competitive game against a familiar opponent – Milford. Over the past few years, the two schools have played a number of times and the games have always been close. On this occasion, Huish went 1-0 down early but fought back to draw 1-1. The team went on to dominate the remainder of the group stage winning 5-0, 1-0 and 5-0 again. These results led the team into a semi-final against Holy Trinity which was a tough game, but a late winner from Poppy sealed a 1-0 win. In the final, Milford were the opponents once again and Huish were well up for the game. Despite attack after attack, the Milford goalkeeper made some excellent saves to keep the score at 0-0. It took a cool finish from Luca to put Huish ahead.
Thursday 13 November 2025 Netball Our Netball team took part in a tournament at Westfield school. For some of the girls this was the first time they had represented Huish at Netball! The tournament was a great opportunity for some game experience learning. Everyone worked incredibly hard and did not stop smiling and encouraging their team mates.
Thursday 23 October 2025 Cheerleading Students from Year 5 enjoyed a cheerleading session led by Westfield Academy. They learnt some basic moves required to enable them to complete a routine, including the start of a small lift! Lots of fun was had!
Tuesday 21 October 2025 Sports Tournament Huish hosted a Netball and Football tournament for Year 5 and 6. Football was a very closely fought match with lots of action in all areas of the pitch. Huish took the lead early on with a great goal from Dexter. We then continue to hassle hard with the final score a convincing 3-1 win for Huish. Netball was also a very well matched game. Everyone worked really hard to get some quick goals in the game and this soon saw Huish take a healthy lead. The final score was 7-0 to Huish!
Thursday 9 October 2025 Netball Tournament Year 5 and 6 pupils played their very first Netball tournament at Westfield Academy. All of the players are new to Netball and have been working hard at Netball Club and enjoyed practising their new skills against teams from other schools in the area. We won, drew and lost in our group. The team demonstrated great attitude, sportsmanship and teamwork! It was also lovely to see some ex-pupils and netballers umpiring and supporting the games - thank you, Westfield.
Friday 12 September 2025 Benchball Students from Year 5 and 6 represented Huish at a Benchball competition. This is the first time we have played this game so the students had to quickly learn the rules before playing! They worked incredibly hard and showed amazing team work! They finished in joint 2nd place! Well done!
